In this edition of ‘Tooning for Tots, I was definitely asked to go outside of my comfort zone. Though I am a huge comic fan, my life drawing skills are out of practice. I run sites for my poetry, concept art, and abstract work. All those tend towards the more abstract. But one young lady wasn’t going to let me stay comfortable, because she requested some superheroes.
This batch includes a husky dog, a parakeet with glasses and an attitude, and Superman/Supergirl. I really struggled with those pictures; not only am I out of practice with life drawing, but I’m also not a fan of either character. I’m much better drawing something if I’m excited about it.
The cat drawing is an homage to one young boy’s pet cat, who passed away this month. His cat, Sable, would give people ‘high fives’ if they stuck their hands out. So I tried to capture that moment for him and his mother.
